As we approach the end of the age, we know the spirit of lawlessness will be prevalent. This is true in every part of society and that includes politics.

For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way – 2 Thessalonians 2:7

The lawlessness referred to here is not the breaking of man’s laws but, the breaking of God’s laws, which are more stringent than man’s laws. For example, breaking your word is as bad as stealing. By that standard most politicians would be called ‘lawless’. Politicians are more concerned about their standing and re-election or committee positions than the keeping their word or the good of the country. We have a lot of politicians and very few statesmen!

The Apostle Paul wrote –

For neither at any time did we use flattering words, as you know, nor a cloak for covetousness—God is witness. Nor did we seek glory from men, either from you or from others, when we might have made demands as apostles of Christ. – 1 Thessalonians 2:5, 6

The recent elections highlight this problem. Many Republicans ran on a platform of conservatism; repealing Obama-care, downsizing government, stopping illegal immigration schemes, resolving the disaster of the Benghazi  attack, confronting radical Islam, etc. but, when real action was required, they caved and even voted John Boehner, who has been the main obstacle towards resolving these issues in the House, back into the House leadership position. Boehner has been President Obama’s go-to guy in the House and these so-called conservatives voted him back in! Now that he is voted in as Speaker of the House, he is taking his revenge on those voted against him – a real Christian attitude? There seems to be no difference between establishment Republicans and  liberal Democrats. Perhaps the answer is a third party who will take Paul’s advise to heart; don’t use flattering words to get elected, don’t be covetous, and don’t seek glory from men, but stand for the truth.

Because of this atmosphere of lawlessness, our country is falling prey to those who hate us and the philosophy of ‘political correctness’ is destroying us. Every major attack against us and the west in the last 10 years has been at the hands of radical Islam yet the news media refuses to point this out and we a have a President who repeatedly lauds Islam and threatens those who point out the truth about Islam. David Horowitz is one of the few who dare to speak on this issue and has endured much opposition from Universities who take  public tax money to supposedly provide open debate and free speech.

I know many have not seen the above video so I included it in this post, however the only real answer to the problem of lawlessness is found in the 3:16 verses of the Holy Bible. Many know John 3:16 , “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”, but few know the other 3:16 verses, such as –

For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there. James 3:16

It is only in our embracing truths like these that any nation can enjoy the prosperity, blessing, and freedom that God wants for us all to have.
