I’m going to write this blog to black families in America. I choose black families because of the recent riots in Baltimore but, this message could and does apply to families of every ethnic background. Riots like we have seen in Baltimore are not the result of poverty, lack of education, or even lack of opportunity to succeed. There are many black people who have overcome these to become successful. These riots are the result of family breakdown! The fathers have forsaken their obligations to be the head of the family – in fact they are more often than not AWOL! Leaving the mother to raise her children and the children to be raised by whoever happens to be available. To the fathers, God commands –

And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord. – Ephesians 6:4

What we all witnessed in Baltimore was ‘children of wrath’ running wild. But their fathers and mothers were doing it first – having sex out of wedlock or without the commitment to stick it out and raise the children they produced! When Jesus issued His condemnation of the church in Pergamos, He said –

“But I have a few things against you, because you have there those who hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balak to put a stumbling block before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed to idols, and to commit sexual immorality. – Revelation 2:14

First they ‘ate things sacrificed to idols’ – what does that mean? Idols are anything set up in place of God. The American Black culture has certainly done that, and the idol is the American government! They are looking to government to solve their problems by giving them a free handout, whether it be food, education, or work. Their churches have not taught them the lesson of Joseph in Egypt –

‘when the great drought hit Egypt, Joseph talked the Pharaoh into stocking up food in the prosperous years (by taxation) to give to the people during the lean years. But, it was not free – the people had to pay for it; first with money, then with their land and possessions, and finally with their own freedom – they became slaves! The great lesson being – a government that can give you everything can also take everything! This is the lesson of Joseph in Egypt.’ (paraphrased)

The Democrat Party has used this lesson to enslave Black people in America by the philosophy of welfare, which is nothing more than Joseph’s dream in action, and all for your vote. But, if you make the government the answer to your problems, you will end up back in slavery! Now I have used black families as an example because of the recent problems in Baltimore but, there are many of every color having the same problems.

When Jesus corrected the church of Pergamos, He also singled out ‘sexual immorality’ – why? The reason is simple but far-reaching. The family is build on commitment; husband and wife becoming ‘one flesh’. But, sexual immorality destroys this necessary bond. The only thing that can restore it is forgiveness and repentance and those only come with difficulty. It is Satan that wants to destroy the family because he knows God has placed such a high value on it. Any  person, industry,or passion that promotes sexual immorality is nothing more than a tool of the devil !

There is only one sure answer to this problem – turn to God. He alone can heal and restore our cities. Stop letting our schools teach the children that government, socialism, humanism, or any other ism is the answer to our problems and return to teaching Scriptural principles. The Word of God teaches that we have to “purge out the old leaven” and that means every philosophy that denies God and His truth. If there are those who don’t like this, such as atheist, communists, or Muslims, we have an open door policy and they are free to leave. For the sake of our families and our nation we should not be willing to surrender to them because of some false philosophy of political correctness!
