Many of the Feasts of the Lord contain an agricultural background as do many of the parables Jesus gave – such as the parable of the Sower in Matthew 13:3. But, no one sows seed without expecting a harvest and so it is with God. Shavuot (Pentecost) is such a Feast. It was called the Feast of Weeks and marked the in-gathering of the vital, life sustaining wheat harvest. But, as with all of the Feasts of the Lord, it contained a deeper meaning as well. It marked the anniversary of the day God gave the Torah (tablets of Law) to Israel at Mt. Sinai. This giving of the Law stood for the covenant between God and the 12 tribes of Israel. It sealed them as God’s covenant people. It contained a promise of what was to come as Jeremiah the prophet wrote many years later –

“Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD: But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.” – Jeremiah 31:31-33

At Mt. Sinai God sealed His covenant with the children of Israel. They were set apart as a special people. Also at Pentecost, God sealed the very first people of the New Covenant and all those who come after them who experience the set-apart working of the Holy Spirit. As Paul wrote the Corinthians –

“Now he which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God; Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.” – 2 Corinthians 1:21-22

God also reversed a curse placed on mankind many years before at the Tower of Babel. Corrupt mankind, driven by Satan, tried to reach God on their own terms by building a man-made mountain (tower) that would reach into the heavens. They wanted to reach their creator, not by His prescribed means but, by their own pride and self-sufficiency. The devil had deceived man into getting the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil in the Garden now he was deceiving them into trying to get the Tree of Life by their own efforts. So God stopped them by confusing their languages thus creating confusion, barriers and divisions.

Fast forwarding through time to Pentecost, God revealed how man could reach Him without confusion –

“And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. And there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men, from every nation under heaven. And when this sound occurred, the multitude came together, and were confused, because everyone heard them speak in his own language.” – Acts 2:4-6

In other words, God reversed the curse pronounced at Babel with a blessing. Confusion became clarity, division became unity, and barriers toppled. This is the overlooked message of Shavuot – access to a relationship with God is by His out poured blessing and not by man’s works. It came to the Jew first, but also through them to the Nations.

Sadly, mankind is once again falling for Satan’s deception by trying to reach his Creator through his own efforts. Today, it is called Cybernetics, through which they are trying to achieve immortality and super-human abilities through the melding of man and machines. It is interesting to me that many of the so-called scientific breakthroughs occurred in 2015 as the Blood Red Moon tetrad was concluding, making their warning even more relevant.

They are attributing much of the technology being used to aliens they claim visited the earth in ages past, not realizing the so-called aliens they are referring to were fallen angels that produced the nephilim of Genesis chapter six –

“There were giants (he. nephilim) in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.” – Genesis 6:4

Lest you think these Cyberneticist are all a lunatic fringe, President Obama himself launched in 2015 the Brain Initiative which is to study the joining of the human brain with cybernetic machines and chemicals to enhance human intelligence.

It would be well to remember that God destroyed the world of Noah’s day with a flood because it had been genetically corrupted by these nephilim . Though He has promised to not again destroy the world by a flood, it does not eliminate fire!

As we approach the Feast of Shavuot in the Year of Jubilee, remember it marked the sealing of God’s people with a New Covenant, setting them apart as a special people. Remember also, that there is coming a later rain outpouring that will be greater than that of Pentecost! Perhaps this June 12th will begin it. We have an obligation to “pray for rain in the time of the later rain” as Zechariah prophesied. Don’t be deceived by modern cybernetics proponents – God alone knows the way home to Him.
