Many are worried about the future and wondering what is coming next. Will it be another war, or hurricane, or earthquake, or maybe something worse? Secular news is full of such stories and warnings. But few ever seem to look at what the One who controls it all has to say – God!

As Jesus was preparing His disciples for the end of the age, this is what He taught –

“For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many. “And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. “For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. “All these are the beginning of sorrows. (birth pangs)” – Matthew 24:4-8

Jesus never sugar-coated the truth. Yes, there would be many troubles coming and like birth pangs, they would grow more painful and frequent the closer we come to the delivery. He also warned, these would just be the beginning signs – more is to come. So, where are we now in time?

Perhaps we should look to the prophets for an answer, after all Scripture says of them –

“Surely the Lord GOD does nothing, unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets.” – Amos 3:7

Now, prophets are but men, and all men can fail. That is why we are told to judge for ourselves what they prophesy – if it true then we must heed but if it is false then we must not obey. With this in mind I want to review some recent events in view of prophetic statements.

Thousands of birds, fish, and animals experiencing mass die-offs around the world since 2012 and still happening:

“By swearing and lying, Killing and stealing and committing adultery, They break all restraint,
With bloodshed upon bloodshed. Therefore the land will mourn;

And everyone who dwells there will waste away with the beasts of the field and the birds of the air; even the fish of the sea will be taken away.” – Hosea 4:2,3

Hosea predicted as society becomes filled with liars, false swearers, thieves, and adultery finally accepting the killing of the most innocent, such as abortion, the very land would begin to mourn and react in strange ways. We not only see these things today but, they seem to be the norm.

Jesus also foretold of famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places and we also see these as AIDS, Zika virus, and food shortages increase world-wide. Tsunamis, earthquakes, and related volcanoes are constantly with us.

Recent and Current Disasters

Since 2001 the increase in wars, revolutions, earthquakes, volcanoes, riots of ethnic groups has overwhelmed the news media. When Jesus predicted “For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.”, the word translated as ‘nation’ really is ‘ethnic group’ in the Greek. While some skeptics say it only appears that way because we have better

news and tracking now, the US Geological Department documents a dramatic increase in earth activities since 2000. There is also strong warnings of even greater earthquakes that are overdue in Yellowstone and the New Madrid fault. Then there are the strange sounds and ‘booming’ noises occurring all over the world as well as the United States.

There are also unusual events happening in the heavens which I will cover in the next episode. There is no doubt that something strange is happening. Is God trying to get our attention?
