“The earth shall reel to and fro like a drunkard, And shall totter like a hut;
Its transgression shall be heavy upon it, And it will fall, and not rise again.” – Isaiah 24:20“Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! “ – Isaiah 5:20
“Justice is turned back, And righteousness stands afar off; For truth is fallen in the street,
And equity cannot enter.” – Isaiah 59:14
Judgment is falling on the earth, in nearly every kingdom and nation, and it is not the judgment of God – it is the judgment of their own sin bearing its fruit. The people are wandering around like blind men seeking an answer to their problems but, they will not find it because they are looking in the wrong place for it. As Isaiah wrote, their transgression makes them wobble like a drunkard having no stability. They call evil good and good evil. It used to be evil to kill the unborn, now it is called good. It used to be called evil to lie, now it is called shrewd. It used to be called evil to steal, now it is called taxation, repatriation, or wealth re-distribution. Truth has fallen in the streets and anyone who stands up for truth makes himself a prey!
In America they have invented a new term called ‘social justice’ which allows them to extort the innocent. Social justice is just a banner used by some to incite people to violence and by others to give vent to their own rebellion. Some try to sugar coat it by claiming that Jesus preached ‘social justice’ thereby exposing their ignorance of what Jesus taught and stood for. Jesus began His ministry with a message – “Repent for the kingdom of God is at hand!” There was and is no justice without repentance and forsaking sin. He taught us to pray – “Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven”. As Isaiah wrote, when “righteousness stands afar off’ then ‘justice is turned back”. All the marching, breaking windows, looting stores, and burning cars in the street will not bring justice. Only repentance from sinful lives and humbly calling on God for forgiveness will do that.
In the article How to overcome strange fire, I warned of the danger of mixing falsehoods with God’s revealed works or words. One of the signs Jesus warned us to watch for were false prophets (Matthew 24:11), and today we see an abundance of false prophets and false teachers on the scene. They often try to deceive by adding a fragment of God’s truth to their proclamations. Or, having forsaken God all together, they use humanistic reasons, evolutionary falsehoods, or political correctness to prove their points.
I give you another paradigm to answer the world’s problems –
- Seek God while He may be found – “Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.”– Isaiah 55:6, 7
- As you face life’s problems remember – “You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.” – 1 John 4:4
- Don’t yield to the world or be bullied by it for in the end – we win! – “And you will be hated by all for My name’s sake. But he who endures to the end shall be saved.” – Mark 13:13
- Trust God to meet all your needs – “I have been young, and now am old; Yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, Nor his descendants begging bread.” – Psalm 37:25
