Although most of what I write is concerned with prophesy happening today, in this post, I wanted to give a message of hope to all who are facing adversity, be it spiritual in nature or physical. I recently prayed for a dear friend that is battling cancer, as many are today, and there are also many around the world that are facing persecution and death for the Name of Christ Jesus. I pray this will be a comfort to them as well.
God never promised we would be free from trials but, He does promise to be with us in them. In fact He said He would never leave us – He is always there as David discovered –
“The LORD is my shepherd;
I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil;
For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil;
My cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life;
And I will dwell in the house of the LORD Forever.“ – Psalm 23
At some point in life, we will all walk through the ‘valley of the shadow of death’ but, we do not need to fear. To the believer it is called the ‘shadow of death’ because Jesus came and on the Cross He defeated death. It was prophesied of Him in Hosea –
I will ransom them from the power of the grave;
I will redeem them from death.
O Death, where is your punishment?
O Grave, where is your sting?
Pity is hidden from My eyes.” – Hosea 13:14
Paul writes about this mystery that has struck fear into the heart of mankind since the beginning –
“Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed—in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.” “O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory?” – 1 Corinthians 15:51-55
As the Book of Revelation concludes, we have the promise of Jesus to believers –
“And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.” – Revelation 21:4
As you may go through the suffering of pain and the Devil attacks you with fear and doubts, remember Jesus went through it all for you and overcame it and He has sent the Holy Spirit to watch over us as the children of God, helping to overcome as well.
“The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.” – Romans 8:16,17
Above all, remember what David prayed –
“My times are in thy hand: deliver me from the hand of mine enemies, and from them that persecute me. Make thy face to shine upon thy servant: save me for thy mercies’ sake.Let me not be ashamed, O LORD; for I have called upon thee:” – Psalm 31:15-17
We do not have to surrender to the enemies of God without a fight! Our times are in God’s hands and His alone, We have been given the weapons of all prayer and the Holy Spirit to resist and overcome all the enemy of our souls would do to us!
May God bless you.
