“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” – Proverbs 22:6
America is facing many crises right now and most of them are of our own making. For a least a generation we have been entrusting our children to public schools and colleges that have been infected with a John Dewey world view which is socialistic and anti-God in nature.
The above picture is of rioters protesting the election of Donald Trump as President of the United States. Rather than embracing the Constitutional formula of the transfer of power they react with burning, looting, and mayhem. You will notice that they are mostly young school age adults. They are not reacting according to Biblical standards but according to humanistic socialistic standards, because that is what has been taught to them throughout their schooling. John Dewey received his training in Communistic Russia, came back to the United States and founded “teachers colleges” where teachers would be trained to pass their philosophy on to students who would ultimately carry our their masters desires!
John Dunphy, a disciple of John Dewey and humanism, author of the infamous and often quoted comments that appeared in his article “A Religion for a New Age” The Humanist magazine wrote:
I am convinced that the battle for humankind’s future must be waged and won in the public school classroom by teachers who correctly perceive their role as the proselytizers of a new faith: a religion of humanity that recognizes the spark of what theologians call divinity in every human being. There teachers must embody the same selfless dedication of the most rabid fundamentalist preacher, for they will be ministers of another sort, utilizing a classroom instead of a pulpit to convey humanist values in whatever subject they teach, regardless of the educational level—preschool, daycare, or large state university. The classroom must and will become an arena of conflict between the old and the new—the rotting corpse of Christianity, together with all its adjacent evils and misery, and the new faith of humanism, resplendent in its promise of a world in which the never-realized Christian ideal of “love thy neighbor” will finally be achieved – John J. Dunphy, “A Religion for a New Age,” The Humanist (January/February 1983), 26
This battle has been going on for some time now but, the Christian Church has been asleep to its danger. They have forsaken the Biblical admonition to “train up” their children, foolishly thinking that an hour of Sunday School once a week can overcome 35-40 hours a week of indoctrination into socialism by the schools! Maybe they really do believe in miracles – because that is what it would take to overcome this onslaught against our children! But, I fear it is not a belief in miracles, rather it is a surrender to convenience and materialism that accounts for this ‘deadness’ and sleepiness in the Church.
There is an answer however, if we will pay the price and take it. Author Gary DeMar writes –
“One of the more pleasurable parts of what I do is traveling around the country and meeting people who have not let what is a steady stream of bad news deter them in preparing young people for the future. The most rewarding experiences I have are meeting with young people who are part of the growing Christian private, church, and home school movement. These youngsters are doing amazing things in the classroom with only a fraction of the financial resources showered on public schools. Courses in logic, Latin, and Greek are common. They can run rings around most adults in what they know about history and the Bible. They are eager to take part in discussions with adults, even challenging them at times. They are the future, and the future looks bright.”
The Bible has an abundance of prescriptions for raising healthy children – love them, train them, teach them, discipline them, pray for them, present them to God in thanksgiving. None of these are easy but God pledges to help every parent who will try. It is high time Church pastors begin encouraging their members to home school, or at least get active in their local schools, or at the very least preach about the dangers being taught in public education. It is also time for parents to begin taking their God-given mandate to train their children in godliness and stop surrendering them to modern culture, which is against God! As Jesus taught –
“But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea.” – Matthew 18:6
I hope and pray you will agree with this article and pass it on as often as you can. We are in a battle for the life of our children and we cannot loose!
