As trouble builds in the world, especially over Jerusalem, and as many heavenly signs are appearing, such as Blood Red Moons, Blue Moons, Rev; 12 signs of Virgo etc., many are wondering anew about the coming of the Lord that has been long predicted. Indeed these signs were meant by God to alert and awaken our attention. Jesus taught just such a reaction –
“Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.”– Luke 21:36
Peter warned that there would be many who would scoff at these warnings –
“Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.” – 2 Pet. 3:3,4
He warns that these scoffers are willingly ignorant, not wanting to believe or surrender to the word of God in their lives. Because God doesn’t jump to their tune, so to speak, or their time, they choose not to believe Him. They are ignorant of the fact that God’s plans are right on schedule as all the prophets illustrate. To Daniel it was revealed that Israel was put on a 70 prophetic week schedule and everything is proceeding according to plan.
“And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.” – Dan. 9:26
Jesus came as the ‘suffering Messiah’ on the exact day Daniel predicted, but was ‘cut off’. The ‘people of the prince that will come’ did destroy the city of Jerusalem and the Sanctuary a few years later, and that people were the Romans (Draw your own conclusions). For 2000 years since a ‘flood’ of nations have continued the war against the Jews and ‘desolations’ have been poured out upon them. But, the ‘end of the war’ is soon upon us. Israel is back in the land, at least partially and Jerusalem is back in their hands, at least partially. Now God speaks this word of comfort to His people –
Come, my people, enter your chambers, And shut your doors behind you; Hide yourself, as it were, for a little moment, Until the indignation is past. For behold, the LORD comes out of His place To punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity; The earth will also disclose her blood, And will no more cover her slain. – Isa. 26:20,21
Remember, God told Daniel that these things were for the end of days and the message is repeated to John as well, in Revelation 12. The final battle will begin in heaven between God’s angels and the devil and his angels but, the devil will be cast down to the earth with great wrath because he knows his time is short. Israel will be told to enter her chambers until the indignation is past. She will find refuge in the sheepfold of Bozrah for 3 ½ years until the Lord comes to deliver her.
“And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child. And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent. And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood. “ – Rev. 12:13-15
But, is there a way for us who are watching and praying to know when this war in heaven begins? Yes, there are many Scripture that tell us but, I will use the evident one –
“But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not, (let him that readeth understand,) then let them that be in Judaea flee to the mountains:” – Mark 13:14
It will be exactly as God told Daniel –
“And he (the prince) shall confirm the covenant with many for one week ( 7 years): and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.” – Dan. 9:27
“And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days.” – Dan. 12:11
So, next on God’s agenda will likely be rebuilding the Temple, where the abomination of desolation will set up. The stage is being set even now for the epic of the ages – the return of the king. Will you be ready?
