One of the foundational truths of end-time prophecy is that the Antichrist will set up the ‘abomination of desolation’ in it.

“Therefore when you see the ‘abomination of desolation,’ spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place” (whoever reads, let him understand)” – Matt. 24:15

Jesus was referring to Daniel’s prophecy that was first fulfilled by the Syrian Antiochus Epiphany during the Maccabean period. Antiochus erected a statue of Zeus in the Temple and sacrificed pigs on the Temple Altar. However, both Daniel and Jesus forecast that this would happen again in the last days with the Antichrist. But, to do this requires the Temple be rebuilt and this requires the original location of the Temple to be known. Many believe what is called the Temple Mount is the location, but to build the Temple there  would bring on a major conflict, as the Dome of the Rock and Al-Aqsa Mosque are on the Temple Mount. However, a growing number of archaeologists and Bible scholars are looking at another sight as the following video will show.

Timothy Smith reveals how he discovered a code in the Bible text that places Solomon’s Temple directly above the Gihon Spring. Other archaeologists are busy uncovering the City of David and have recently uncovered the Pool of Siloam. These seem to confirm that the Temple of Solomon was to the south of what is now called The Temple Mount.

Besides rediscovering ancient sites, another group named the Temple Institute is busy recreating the furniture that will be needed in the Temple worship. The ancient Sanhedrin is now reconstituted and several colleges have been started to train Temple Priests in Temple worship. The Sanhedrin has only recently minted the new ½ Shekel coin, which is required for Temple worship, and it has the image of Cyrus and Trump on the face, honoring them as two who helped Israel rebuild the Temple. President Trump’s declaration naming Jerusalem as Israel’s capital has more hidden meanings than most realize. All of these developments suggest the rebuilding of the Temple may be closer than most believe.

Then we also have military-political tensions sharply on the rise between Hamas, Hezbollah, Iran, Turkey, Russia and the United States. Syria’s recent use again of chemical warfare against its opposition is almost certain to bring on new military action. Iran is continuing to test Israel’s resolve to keep them from forming military bases in Syria. No one knows yet just what measures the United States will take against Syria and Russia for the recent use of chemical weapons, chemicals that Putin said he would remove from Syria last year!

Hamas in Gaza is being equipped and trained by Hezbollah to attack Israel as a 5th column as Hezbollah is preparing for war with Israel. This could very well unleash the Psalm 83 war which will likely lead into the Ezekiel 38 war. All the players seem to be moving into place.

This is a time to watch and pray. We only know these things will happen, and not exactly when. We can however see that they are getting closer. We can make sure we are prepared by seeking God, praying that we, our families and friends, and our nations are prepared to be on God’s side!
