President Trump has recognized Jerusalem as the eternal capital of Israel and has scheduled the move of the U.S. Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. And he seems to have the support of several Arab nations, including Saudi Arabia, for this move. The President’s Son in Law, Jared Kushner, has been negotiating a new Middle East peace plan that he hopes will settle the Palestinian issue once and for all. The President recently hinted that this recognition would cost Israel and they would have to “pay a higher price”. He further stated “The Palestinians will get something very good, because it’s their turn next,” Its obvious he was referring to giving them the West Bank. Israel’s Netanyahu is counting on Palestinian Authority leader Mahmoud Abbas turning this peace offer down but, what if he doesn’t? These plans bring up the subject of a war hinted at in Psalm 83. I have written about this war in the article Psalm 83 War – Part 2.
“For behold, Your enemies make a tumult; And those who hate You have lifted up their head. They have taken crafty counsel against Your people, And consulted together against Your sheltered ones. They have said, “Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation, That the name of Israel may be remembered no more.” For they have consulted together with one consent; They form a confederacy against You:” – Psalm 83:2-5
The people named as Israel’s adversaries are the very people Trump is hoping to bring into a peace agreement with Israel. I think it is highly unlikely or if it does occur, it will not last long. (NOTE: Notice that the people named here are different than the people listed in Ezekiel 38, the war with Gog. These people all occupy lands that physically abut the land of Israel whereas, those listed in the war with Gog come from the outside.)
Abbas is worried about his adversaries in Hamas and Hamas is firmly linked to Hezbollah in southern Lebanon who is looking for nothing less than the total elimination of Israel.
But, what about God? God has made His plans clear –
“On the same day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying: “To your descendants I have given this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the River Euphrates— the Kenites, the Kenezzites, the Kadmonites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Rephaim, the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Girgashites, and the Jebusites.” – Gen. 15:18-21
These boundaries were nearly achieved under King David and King Solomon. If Israel conquers the people named in Psalm 83, this covenant God made with Abraham would be fulfilled.
We may be nearing the war of Psalm 83 beginning, especially as the Israeli Knesset is considering annexing the West Bank and the Golan Heights. It could be that this peace deal by Trump will set off a war that God identified long ago.
