In 2015 I wrote an article named The Blood Moons and Psalm 83 in which I highlighted the warning of the prophet Isaiah and of the deteriorating conditions in the Middle East –
“The prophet Isaiah also describes a similar event before the coming of the Lord: “The sun will be darkened in its going forth, And the moon will not cause its light to shine.” (Isaiah 13:10). Both of these events, the sun being darkened (solar eclipse) and the moon turning blood-red (lunar eclipse), are being displayed right now in the Blood Red Moons Tetrad of 2014 and 2015. The fact that the solar eclipses happen on Nisan 1, the beginning of God’s Biblical calendar, and on Tishri 1, the Feast of Trumpets and the beginning of the Jewish New Year, give warning to Israel to prepare for war and warning to the nations that their judgment is near. Given that these are extremely rare occurrences and will never again happen in our lifetime we should pay attention to them as warnings from God Almighty.”
I then asked the question – “Do these heavenly signs have anything to do with the war predicted in Psalm 83? In this Psalm, Asaph predicts a future war against Israel by the surrounding peoples.”
I then introduced Psalm 83 and the people groups named in it (which I will not repeat here). At the time, it looked as if the radical forces of ISIS may be the catalyst to begin this war. Since that time ISIS and its encroachment has been greatly weakened but, that has not stopped the forces of radical Islam from continuing their onslaught against the state of Israel.
Since that time the war in Syria has erupted and we need to examine just what the results of it are.
- Anti-Assad, pro-Israel forces, in Syria have been severely weakened.
- Russia has extended its control into the Mid East and into Syria.
- Hezbollah has greatly increased its control of southern Lebanon.
- Iran has achieved a land bridge through Iraq and into Syria greatly increasing its influence on Israel’s border.
- Russia has taken over the Syrian side of the Golan border and allowed Hezbollah and Iranian forces to take up positions on Israel’s northern border.
- Hamas has taken control of Gaza, over-ruling the PA and threatening Israel in the south. And Hamas is inciting riots on Israel’s border with the Gaza strip.
- Iran is funding terrorists in the Sinai who are attacking both Egypt and Israel.
The prophet Isaiah declares the future of Israel in chapter 60 which begins with the call to Arise and Shine –
“Arise, shine; For your light has come! And the glory of the LORD is risen upon you. For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, And deep darkness the people; But the LORD will arise over you, And His glory will be seen upon you.” – Isa. 60:1,2
Isaiah continues, though darkness, brought on by the spirit of Antichrist, will cover the people, the Lord will begin to bless Israel. Isaiah then lists the blessings that will come on Israel: her children will return from the nations they were scattered into, the abundance of the sea will be turned to her (not only fish but oil and natural gas), trade with other nations will increase, trade with Arab countries will increase, those who afflict her will come bowing at her feet (Hezbollah of Lebanon), violence (Hamas) will no longer be heard in your borders.
“Signaling war, Liberman urges cabinet to okay ‘serious blow’ to Hamas in Gaza”
Are we in the process of seeing this word come to pass? The patience of Israel with Hamas is about to run out and an all-out war is about to be released on Gaza. Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman on Tuesday called on his fellow ministers to approve a large-scale military campaign against the Hamas terror group in Gaza in light of ongoing riots and violence along the Strip’s security fence. Since Hamas has the support of Hezbollah and Iran, will this precipitate the war described in Psalm 83?
Also, would such action lead to the war of Ezekiel 38 as Russia is now firmly entrenched in Syria? Only God knows.
