As we have just finished celebrating Christmas I wonder how many realize what it was that we were celebrating. To some it was just a holiday from work. to some it was a chance to make money, to some it was a time to get and give gifts, and to some it was an excuse to party and drink. To some it was a time of fellowship with family and renewing old ties. To a few it was a recognition of God’s gift of salvation to mankind. But, I wonder how many saw the prophetic promise of Christmas?
God revealed it to His prophet Isaiah –
“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end,” – Isa. 9:6
To Isaiah it was revealed that He would come as a child but He would end as a ruler and the government of the nations would be on His shoulder. To Daniel it was revealed that the nations would be ruled by a series of empires and would end as a ten toed empire made of clay and iron –
“You, O king, were watching; and behold, a great image! This great image, whose splendor was excellent, stood before you; and its form was awesome. This image’s head was of fine gold, its chest and arms of silver, its belly and thighs of bronze, its legs of iron, its feet partly of iron and partly of clay.” – Dan. 2:31-33
The final Gentile kingdom would be a union of ten made of iron and clay. Then the kingdom of God would smash it and be the final ruler of the nations –
“You watched while a stone was cut out without hands, which struck the image on its feet of iron and clay, and broke them in pieces.” – Dan 2:34
Other Scriptures tell us that this 10 toed kingdom will be ruled by the Antichrist that will be the final Gentile ruler before God sets up His eternal kingdom. This stone that smashes this Antichrist kingdom will establish the government Isaiah prophesied of the Christ Child.
That means all the Communist nations will fall and be as if they never existed. Islam will cease to exist and all its promises of caliphates and world rule will be blown away as the chaff. All the puffed up rulers preaching socialism and world rule will be shown to be clouds without any rain. The United Nations will be shown to be a broken cistern that can hold no water.
The stone cut out of the mountain will grow until it becomes a mountain –
“And in the days of these kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed; and the kingdom shall not be left to other people; it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand forever. Inasmuch as you saw that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it broke in pieces the iron, the bronze, the clay, the silver, and the gold—the great God has made known to the king what will come to pass after this. The dream is certain, and its interpretation is sure.” – Dan. 2:44,45
That eternal kingdom began with a child being born in a manger in Bethlehem 2000 years ago. That’s why the devil and his kingdoms hate Christmas. They know what begins must end, and the spirit that rules them knows the end. Try as they may to repress its growth, Christianity preaching the message of the kingdom of God continues to grow and spread within their own borders. Thousands of Muslims and Buddhists in Indonesia are responding, and shutting down churches in China just scatters the coals of fire that has been set. Iranian Imams are troubled at the numbers of Iranians turning to the Lord Jesus Christ.
The final Gentile kingdom will have only a short time to exist as the Antichrist will come forth out of it and begin his 7 year reign only to be cut short by the return of the King of Heaven with His heavenly armies. He will then set up His kingdom which will last a thousands years and into eternity.
Jesus warned us these things would happen in Luke 21 but, we were not to be troubled –
“Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.” – Luke 21:28
