“Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” – Matthew 5:13-16
The salt Jesus is talking about is that preservative that fights corruption – the corruption of sin. And the light He is talking about is that God given exposure to the truth as God defines it. It alone can drive away darkness. Mystery Babylon cannot stand either. Her spirit thrives in darkness and she is full of corruption. If we would follow Jesus we must be salt and light in our time. One thing about salt – you always know it is there! There is no hiding it. And light always exposes darkness for what it is.
John sees the false church at the end of time, arrayed in great pomp and splendor but, compromised with the world and riding the very ‘beast’ that is trying to destroy God, His Son, and His people! She is drunk with the blood of saints and martyrs of Jesus. John, who saw the current Church come forth anointed with the Holy Spirit, is amazed as he looks on what it has become. She has a “form of religion but denies the power thereof” – 1 Tim. 3:5. What is the power she denies?
- Is it the “preaching of the cross” which is the power of God – 1 Corinthians 1:18?
- Or is it the “power of the Holy Ghost” which gives signs and wonders – Romans 15:19?
- Or is it “the word of truth” which is the power of God – 2 Corinthians 6:7?
I believe it is all of these.
Preaching of the cross:
“For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.” – 1 Corinthians 1:18
There are many who profess Christianity but who do not live Christianity. They are like Barak Obama or Hillary Clinton who put on Christianity like a campaign button to buy votes but they easily remove it when the cost is too high. Their talk and actions do not fit with a biblical Christian lifestyle. They will not pay the price of suffering for the faith. They are like chameleons who change colors to fit the situation. I highlight these two because they are so visible now, but they have a host of fellow-travelers.
Power of the Holy Ghost:
“Through mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God; so that from Jerusalem, and round about unto Illyricum, I have fully preached the gospel of Christ.” – Romans 15:19
Many today try to preach the Gospel of the Kingdom armed only with human intellect – but it is not the full gospel Paul is speaking about. He is speaking about the gifting of the Holy Spirit which he explains in 1 Corinthians 12.
“Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I do not want you to be ignorant:”
Paul relied on all the gifts of the Spirit to fully preach the Gospel of Christ and he exhorts us to follow his example –
“For though you might have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet you do not have many fathers; for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel. Therefore I urge you, imitate me.” – 1 Corinthians 4:15, 16
The Church today needs all the power of the Holy Spirit to “fully preach the gospel of Christ” ! And America needs the gospel of Christ to return to its God given calling as a nation! It will not happen by some egotistical politician boldly proclaiming “I’m going to make America great again!” That will be about as effective as the ‘sons of Sceva’ trying to cast out a demon in the name of Jesus, whom Paul preaches. The results will be disaster!
“And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are you? And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.” – Acts 19:15,16
Word of truth:
“By the word of truth, by the power of God, by the armor of righteousness on the right hand and on the left” – 2 Corinthians 6:7
Today, we find ourselves in the condition Isaiah prophesied about –
“Justice is turned back, And righteousness stands afar off; For truth is fallen in the street, And equity cannot enter. So truth fails, And he who departs from evil makes himself a prey.” – Isaiah 59:14,15
The media, who are supposed to be purveyors of truth, use half-truths and innuendo to promote their agenda. Politicians and marketers do the same. Most of those running for political office treat truth as silly-putty to be shaped to their benefit. Donald Trump and Marco Rubio denigrate Ted Cruise accusing him of being a liar when an honest look at the facts prove Cruise to be honest and both of them of being liars. Hillary Clinton is so blatant a liar that even Democrats have to admit it!
Many Christians only want to listen to truth that makes them comfortable. If a church leader preaches too much about sin, they will leave and find another church that will sooth their consciences. Sadly, they will find that they cannot do this with the true Church of Jesus Christ.
As Jesus said, “The fields are white unto harvest” and the time of His return is near. It is time to cast off the spirit of mystery Babylon in our midst and to rise up, armed with the power of the full gospel of Christ. Let us be salt to preserve the Truth God has given us and to stand against all corruption of it. Let us be light to expose all those who would make merchandise of us showing them for what they are.
Part 2
‘Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls came and talked with me, saying to me, “Come, I will show you the judgment of the great harlot who sits on many waters, with whom the kings of the earth committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth were made drunk with the wine of her fornication.” So he carried me away in the Spirit into the wilderness. And I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast which was full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.’ – Revelation 17:1-3
In the past I have concentrated on the Harlot but in this article I want to concentrate on the beast she is riding. This beast appears earlier in Revelation where John writes –
“Then I stood on the sand of the sea. And I saw a beast rising up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and on his horns ten crowns, and on his heads a blasphemous name.” – 13:1
Here John begins to introduce the beast. What are the seven heads on the beast? To understand this picture, we need to look elsewhere in Scripture. Two Biblical prophets specifically write about this beast – Daniel and John. In Daniel chapters 2 and 7 we are told they represent kingdoms, some past and some to come, that will point the way to understanding the end-time picture presented to John. In Daniel 2 God gives Nebuchadnezzar a dream of these final kingdoms and he sees them in the form of an awesome statue but, in Daniel 7 God gives Daniel a dream detailing the same kingdoms as God sees them – as beasts. They are the kingdoms of Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece, and Rome. God reveals further information about them to John in Revelation 17:9,10 –
“Here is the mind which has wisdom: The seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman sits. There are also seven kings. Five have fallen, one is, and the other has not yet come. And when he comes, he must continue a short time.”
At the time of John five had fallen – Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Medo-Persia, and Greece. One is – Rome. And the seventh is yet to come – one with ten horns. While no one knows for sure what this final kingdom will be, the statue of Daniel 2 makes it clear that it will be an extension of the kingdom of Rome, as feet and toes are but extensions of the legs.
In the next part on Mystery Babylon, I will take a closer look at this final ten horned kingdom. In the meanwhile, I urge you to prayerfully read Daniel 2 and 7 and Revelation 13 and 17. God bless your study.
Part 3
“And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy. And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.” – Revelation 13:1,2
As revealed to Daniel (chapter 2) and John (Revelation 17) these heads represent mountains on which the woman sits but they also represent nations that rule the world and Israel. The last kingdom portrayed in Daniel’s chapter 2 is Rome but, it is clear that Rome changes form over time – into two legs, then two feet, and finally 10 toes.
Many think of Rome as disappearing in 476 AD but it simply changed form. First it changed into two legs – the Western and Eastern Roman Empires. Then it changed into two feet which represents its ‘walking’ into many other nations such as the Germanic nations under Clovis I becoming the Holy Roman Empire. A detailed study of this can be found at From Ancient Rome until World War 1. Under Constantine Rome changed from a political power into spiritual power that influenced and controlled many of the kingdoms that would follow. Rome has the unique capacity not only to conquer other nations but also to absorb them. That is why John saw this beast as a leopard (Greece), a bear (Medo-Persia), and a lion (Babylon).
The final form of this beast will be the ten horns that John saw, or the ten toes that Daniel saw. How do I know that this will be the final form of this beast? Because Daniel sees a rock which becomes a mountain crushing the toes, feet, and entire statue, and this stone represents the kingdom of God. Also John sees the ‘little horn’ which represents the Antichrist rising out of the ten horns and being destroyed by Christ Jesus’ return to earth.
“I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things.” – Daniel 7:8
We are living in the time that these events are about to take place. In the next part, I will present more information that the Bible has to say about this ‘little horn’.
Part 4
As we consider this final Gentile kingdom seen by Daniel and John we need to remember who it is that is behind it – the Devil.
“And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.” – Revelation 12:9
From the beginning he has opposed God and His plan of salvation for mankind. He was in the Garden of Eden deceiving and trying to usurp God’s rightful place at the head of creation. He is still at work trying to do the same, that is why the Apostle Paul warned –
“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” – Ephesians 6:12
Down through history the Devil has tried to influence mankind to assist him in his war against God – enticing them to worship false gods, to accept false doctrines, to embrace false theories about the Creation, and to physically war against those who are representatives of God on earth, such as Israel and the Church. This has been a long battle but now it is drawing to a close.
In the process, God is accomplishing three things: 1) He is purifying His people and teaching them to become overcomers, and 2) He is identifying those who remain faithful and those who are unfaithful, and 3) He will finally defeat and purge the Devil and his forces from both heaven and earth.
Toward the very end of this process the focus of Gentile history will move toward the ‘ten toes’ of the statue of Gentile nations seen in Daniel chapter 2. To Daniel and John, it was revealed that these toes would represent 10 horns, which represent nation powers, out of which another ‘little horn’ arises.
“And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast.” – Revelation 17:12
“I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things.” – Daniel 7:8
Many have wondered if the EU is the revelation of these ten
horns. It is true that there are more than 10 nations in the EU but, the ruling body is made up of ten nations. This theory became even more interesting when several years ago three of the nations were formed into a single group called the Benelux. They were the nations of Belgium, Netherlands, and Luxembourg. Is this what Daniel spoke about – “3 horns being plucked up”? Regardless if the EU is the fulfillment of the 10 kings of Daniel and John, we can see a clear pattern emerging. Whenever it comes forth they will only have a short time to do their devilish work, which is to introduce the Antichrist figure and to destroy the false church known a the Harlot of Babylon.
“And the ten horns which thou sawest upon the beast, these shall hate the whore, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire.” – Revelation 17:16
Mystery Babylon, the Great Harlot, the false church, is willing to compromise with the Devil for the sake of power, wealth, and influence. She is willing to accept the offer Jesus refused –
“And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it. If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine. And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.” – Luke 4:6-8
John reveals even more about the ‘little horn’ that arises out of the ten horns. He is the final representative of the beast and he is allowed to overcome all for a short time –
“And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations. And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.” – Revelation 13:7
Both Daniel 7:25 and Revelation 13:5 teach that he will only have 3 1/2 years to do his rebellious work, then the Lord Jesus Christ will judge him.
“These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.” – Revelation 17:14
God has not hidden what will happen. To mankind is given the choice to believe it or not. We are all choosing sides right now and the time is soon coming when we will no longer have the ability to change our minds. I urge you, choose wisely while you still can –
“Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:” – Isaiah 55:6
“For this shall every one that is godly pray unto thee in a time when thou mayest be found: surely in the floods of great waters they shall not come nigh unto him.” – Psalm 32:6
There is yet more to this mystery which God has revealed but, that will have to wait for the next Mystery Babylon post.
Part 5
There has always been war in the heavenly realms but 2000 years ago it took on a new aspect – the Holy Spirit was sent to energize God’s representatives on earth – the Church. For 2000 years this battle has been raging, sometimes winning skirmishes, sometimes losing. Now the battle is intensifying as the Bride of Christ readies herself for the great wedding that is soon coming –
“Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honor to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.” – Revelation 19:7
The Devil knows his time is short and he will do all he can to stop it. He led the Egyptians to try and kill all the Hebrew babies before Moses was born to stop them from returning to the land of promise. He led Herod to kill the babies in Bethlehem to cut off Jesus before His time to stop Him from winning our salvation. He led Hitler to try to destroy all Jews before their allotted time to return to the land. You can be assured that he is the one behind the martyrdom of Christians in Muslim countries even now. And you can be assured that he will continue to try to destroy Israel and persecute the Church to stop in any way he can the plan of deliverance God has for His people and the establishment of the kingdom of God on earth. But, God will win! Even now the Gospel of Jesus Christ is shinning, even in Muslim countries.
This is why I know that the Muslim countries that hate Israel, such as Iran, are simply marching to their own destruction. And I know the Devil’s work to persecute and destroy the Church will simply result in the purification and victory of God’s people. But, God wants His people to understand what is coming and so I write this last article on Mystery Babylon.
After the final 10 nation form of the beast of Revelation (13:1) appears, the ‘little horn’ of Daniel will emerge from them.
“I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things.” – Daniel 7:8
He will consolidate 3 of the other horns and begin his work of deception. At first he will seem to be a peacemaker, even making a 7 year covenant with the nation of Israel.
“And he (the false prince) shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.” – Daniel 9:27
In the verse before this, this false peacemaker is identified as coming out of restored Rome – ” and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary;”. Historically, we know Rome destroyed Jerusalem and the Temple in 70 AD. This prince will confirm a covenant (peace accord) for one week (7 Biblical years) but, in the middle of that time, he will break it causing the sacrifices and offerings to cease. It is likely that the Temple in Jerusalem is rebuilt before or during the first 3 1/2 years as it is only in the Temple that sacrifices can be made.
I believe that just before this time the war described in Psalm 83 and the war of Gog described in Ezekiel 38, 39 will have happened. The radical Islamic states, Russia, and possibly the United States will have been decimated leaving a political power vacuum into which a restored Rome will move. This will be the beast of Revelation 13 out of which the ‘little horn’ will rise. While this ‘little horn” will be political and warlike in nature, he will have the help of another beast –
“And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.” – Revelation 13:11
He looks like a lamb but, he speaks like a dragon. He is a false Christ. John saw the true Christ standing before the Throne of God. He alone was able to open the 7 sealed book of man’s history and future. The Lamb of God had seven horns which are the seven-fold Spirit of God.
“And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth.” – Revelation 5:6
This false lamb, who has only two horns, is the one who will institute the mark of the beast and the economic system that allows no one to buy or sell without the mark of the beast. This deceiver is also called the False Prophet in Revelation 19 but he will come to his appointed end just like the first beast.
“And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.” – Revelation 19:20
We know these events are coming and probably not far off. Already there are copycats pretending to be Christian but espousing false teachings. There are even well meaning Christians who are urging government welfare programs whose application leads to the slavery of dependence on government instead of God. Welfare is not the same as charity. Welfare is forced upon a people whereas charity is an act of freewill. We need to understand that a government that can give you everything is a government that can take everything as well! Already America had a President (Obama) who wanted to import Muslim Syrians into the country but turns away Syrian Christians.
As tensions build in the Mideast and persecution of Christians increase worldwide, be aware that they are like the birth pangs of a pregnant woman warning that the birth is not far off. I hope and pray that you are prepared.
“And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars: And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered.” – Revelation 12:1, 2
This woman is Israel and she is back in the land promised her by God. She is entering into the birth pangs of her salvation even now. Mystery Babylon is here as well and the beast she is riding is preparing his final attack on the Church, Israel, and God. Are you ready? Turn to Jesus while there is yet time.
