“For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was.” – James 1:23, 24

We are living in a time of ‘mirror lookers’ who have forgotten who they are and some of them are in the Church. Our schools and colleges have forsaken their calling to be purveyors of truth and they have taught  the prevailing moral position is “live your truth”. A recent article in American Thinker titled Today’s Democrats: Anti-Christian, Anti-Israel, Anti-God has this to say –

“Anyone who considers himself a friend of God must have at least great pause when it comes to modern Democrats.  Seldom has a major American political party so distanced itself from the notion that, as President John Adams pointed out, “righteousness exalteth a nation but sin is a reproach to any people.”

This is what happens when “live your truth” is the prevailing moral position.  No one should be surprised that politicians who support the “right” to kill children in the womb, who championed the legal redefinition of marriage, and who now pretend we can no longer rely on science, or common sense, or even simply our eyes to tell us who is a male and who is a female, would display open animus against people whose faith tells them such positions are immoral, and who live according to the notion that there is such a thing as absolute truth.

If something is immoral, then perhaps it should be illegal.  If there is such a thing as absolute truth, then perhaps our laws should reflect that truth.  Democrats just can’t take the chance that such thinking will prevail.  Thus, unless Christians can manage to get themselves elected, our role in our government is increasingly imperiled.”

On Aug. 24, 2019 Democrats have passed a resolution in which they have framed religious liberty as a risk to civil rights. The Democratic National Committee unanimously passed this resolution in a meeting in San Francisco. In the resolution, it claims that nonreligious Americans have been victims of bias and exclusion throughout American society. It argues that religion has dominated policymaking which has created an unfair attack against atheists, minorities, and the LGBT community.

The key paragraph was “Those most loudly claiming that morals, values, and patriotism must be defined by their particular religious views have used those religious views, with misplaced claims of “religious liberty,” to justify public policy that has threatened the civil rights and liberties of many Americans, including but not limited to the LGBT community, women, and ethnic and religious/nonreligious minorities”

Orthodox Christianity is on the decline because it has failed to teach the truth as the Word of God presents it and it has turned it’s children over to a secular education system that is based on humanism rather than Biblical morality. Like Facebook and Twitter they tell us what to believe and how to express it. Is it any wonder we see our young leaving the faith?

When Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi, and Kamala Harris can claim to be good Catholics then something is wrong – either they are lying or the Catholic Church is not teaching the truth as God speaks it! 

But James has the answer –

“But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.” – James 1:25

The answer is clear – “Hear the Word, then Do the Word!” I recently wrote two articles, “Remember from where you have fallen” – Rev. 2:5 and God’s Plan for Nations in which I remind the readers to remember our founding as a nation. There is a true church and there is a false church, the wheat and the tares Jesus talked about. The false church has held sway for generations but, I’m glad to see the true church once again beginning to stand up and speak the truth. Oh, the Democrats and the atheist, the LGBT proponents, and the transegenderites won’t like it but they won’t be able to stop it because God is on our side!
