In my last article, I ended with the statement, “The story of Gideon is our pattern, if we break the pitchers, let the torches shine, and blow the shofars, the Midianites will flee! It occurs to me that many may not know the story of Gideon. He was a man of Israel that God raised up to be a Judge over Israel. But, the story begins with the nation of Israel once again falling away from God and turning to other gods, the Baals of the Canaanites. So God punished them –
“Then the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD. So the LORD delivered them into the hand of Midian for seven years,” – Judges 6:1
God had warned them by Moses about blessings and curses He would send on them if they obeyed or didn’t obey. God said their disobedience would be answered –
“I will set My face against you, and you shall be defeated by your enemies. Those who hate you shall reign over you, and you shall flee when no one pursues you.” – Lev. 26:17
Now the Midianites were cousins of the Hebrews but they were jealous of them and they had grown to hate the Jews. So, they came into the land and stole all the produce Israel harvested leaving them destitute.
“and the hand of Midian prevailed against Israel. Because of the Midianites, the children of Israel made for themselves the dens, the caves, and the strongholds which are in the mountains. So it was, whenever Israel had sown, Midianites would come up; also Amalekites and the people of the East would come up against them. Then they would encamp against them and destroy the produce of the earth as far as Gaza, and leave no sustenance for Israel, neither sheep nor ox nor donkey. For they would come up with their livestock and their tents, coming in as numerous as locusts; both they and their camels were without number; and they would enter the land to destroy it. So Israel was greatly impoverished because of the Midianites, and the children of Israel cried out to the LORD.” – Judges 6:2-6
Now some may be quick to blame the Midianites and the Amalekites for this but, they were just the tools God used to punish the Jews. After all, it was the Jews who had forsaken their covenant with God and began to worship foreign gods. America finds itself in a similar condition right now, foreigners (globalists) and false gods have taken over and are robbing us of our freedoms. Our Congress which was meant to reflect the freedoms given by God is now under the thumb of Antichrist forces where Democrat leader Jerry Nadler can say “God’s Will is No Concern of This Congress”. The Whitehouse is making pronouncements that rob us of our taxes, restrict our energy production, make subservient deals with nations such as China that make us underdogs financially and militarily. Leftists are leading our government and passing laws that deny God and favor foreign gods such as Homosexuality, Lesbianism, and Transgenderism, such as the Equality Act. And now they are attempting to pack the Supreme Court with their apologists. They have erected Altars to Baal around the country as they coddle Planned Parenthood, which has nothing to do with family planning but only with abortion slaughter of the innocents! And now with the onslaught of the Chinese virus they have locked us up in our ‘caves’ just as the Midianites did to Israel.
And why is this so? Because America has left it’s God for other gods; gods of popularity, gods of money, gods of sexual pleasures, gods of power, etc. The Catholic Church is meeting with the globalists for our health, and the Episcopalian Church ordains gay Bishops and they lead blessings for Planned Parenthood abortion centers. Many churches are now allowing gay pastors and they are ordaining women as pastors, which is clearly against Biblical teaching. But, perhaps the biggest disobedience of the Church is it’s forsaking of the Holy Spirit. How you say? By relegating Him to a manmade church doctrine which denies the gifts of the Spirit. “Oh, these gifts were just for the Apostolic days”, they say. When Jesus placed so much importance on receiving the Holy Spirit that He ordered His disciples to not even leave Jerusalem until they received the baptism with the Holy Spirit!
“And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me. For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.” – Acts 1:4, 5
After they received the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues, Peter stood up and preached to them –
“Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.” – Acts 2:38, 39
I would like to ask these church leaders, “Are you not called by the Lord?” Because Peter said this baptism of the Holy Spirit is to ‘as many as the Lord our God shall call”! Paul in 1 Corinthians 12, in listing the gifts of the Spirit gives no indication that they are ever to end. Could it be that because you have left God that His gifts have left you? God will not share the pulpit with the world but, much of the church has let the world invade the sanctuary!
We are suffering just as ancient Israel was but it is our own fault for it is we who have left God. We took His Commandments out of public view and we took prayer to Him out of our public schools and our courts removed Crosses from public view. And we voted for the people that did these things, and many more! Now He has allowed the enemy to invade our land and take away our liberty!
But, God is merciful and He found a man in Israel named Gideon. Gideon was threshing wheat in secret for fear of the Midianites when an angel came to him and said, “The LORD is with you, you mighty man of valor!” Gideon didn’t feel too mighty and he said, I am the weakest in Manasseh (a tribe of Israel) and the least in my father’s house! But, the angel said “Surely I will be with you, and you shall defeat the Midianites as one man.” But, first there will be a test. Gideon had to tear down the altar to Baal, build an altar to the LORD on top of it and sacrifice a young bull on it. He went in fear but, he did it, at night so no one would see him. For this action he received the name of Jerubbaal, meaning “He overthrew Baal!” Gideon’s fame grew and when the Midianites came again, Gideon called several tribes to gather to him. Thirty-two thousand gathered to Gideon. But, the LORD said,
“The people who are with you are too many for Me to give the Midianites into their hands, lest Israel claim glory for itself against Me, saying, ‘My own hand has saved me.’ Now therefore, proclaim in the hearing of the people, saying, ‘Whoever is fearful and afraid, let him turn and depart at once from Mount Gilead.’ ” And twenty-two thousand of the people returned, and ten thousand remained.” – Judges 7:2, 3
But the LORD said to Gideon,
“The people are still too many; bring them down to the water, and I will test them for you there. Then it will be, that of whom I say to you, ‘This one shall go with you,’ the same shall go with you; and of whomever I say to you, ‘This one shall not go with you,’ the same shall not go.” So he brought the people down to the water. And the LORD said to Gideon, “Everyone who laps from the water with his tongue, as a dog laps, you shall set apart by himself; likewise everyone who gets down on his knees to drink.” And the number of those who lapped, putting their hand to their mouth, was three hundred men; but all the rest of the people got down on their knees to drink water.
Then the LORD said to Gideon, “By the three hundred men who lapped I will save you, and deliver the Midianites into your hand. Let all the other people go, every man to his place.” – Judges 7:4-7
So Gideon divided the 300 into three companies, gave each man a shofar, a pitcher, and a torch. They lit the torches and put them under the pitchers and stood ready for Gideon’s signal. At Gideon’s signal, they broke the pitchers to let the light shine forth, blew the shofars to summon the LORD’s help, and cried “The sword of the LORD and of Gideon! When the three hundred blew the trumpets, the LORD set every man’s sword against his companion throughout the whole camp, and the army fled!
Now the Midianites have come into our land and we need many Gideon’s to resist them. What did Gideon do first? He pulled down the altar of Baal. Now Baal practiced child sacrifice so his altar was used to kill the innocent children. Today we call it abortion and it’s altar is Planned Parenthood! Thank God, we have a few who are resisting but, it is not yet enough! Most of the Church is yet on the sidelines, hiding their torches under the pitchers, and enjoying the support of those who vote for the temple of Baal. The U.S. Government supports Planned Parenthood with our tax dollars and yet we keep voting for those same politicians. The Health industry even uses aborted fetus parts in research and even in making the current vaccines and yet we support them by taking the vaccine shots, and much of the Church is promoting it, out of fear and stupidity!
Jesus taught that the Church was to be the Light of the world –
“You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” – Matt. 5:14-16
We need to be given shofars and learn how to call on the name of the LORD. Then we need to break the pitchers and let our light shine forth once again! The shofars will call on God for help but, they will also declare to the enemy that the LORD is coming to help us! And we need to add our voice to the action, “The sword of the LORD and of Gideon!” There can be no mercy shown to these demons who are behind this altar of Baal and those who follow them need to experience the fear of the LORD! The Bible says, “It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God!”
According to pollsters, there are some 70 million Christians in the United States. If the cries of 300 could put a Midianite army to flight, imagine what the cries of 70 million could do! Why I believe it could clean out the hypocrisy of the Church, purge the swamp in Washington D.C., clear the muck out of our school systems, overturn the media, purge the entertainment industry, cleanse our financial/business sectors with honestly, and purify our military establishment. In other words, it could bring revival!
But, this revival could begin with as few as 300. 300 who are sold out to the LORD to do His will and take no glory for themselves. 300 who want America to once again choose God for their covering. 300 who are willing to let their light shine and blow the shofars to God for the victory! Are you one of those 300?
