Paul wrote to the Romans –
“And do this, understanding the present time: The hour has already come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. Let us behave decently, as in the daytime, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy. Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the flesh.” – Rom. 13:11-14
The signs that we are being shown, both in the heavens and on earth, tell us that the night is nearly over and the Day is almost here. We need to clothe ourselves with Jesus Christ. That means to take up our cross, die to ourselves, and follow Jesus. Wake up Church for the hour is late!
The prophet Malachi describes two classes of people that will exist in the end days, the righteous and the wicked.
“Then you shall again discern between the righteous and the wicked, between one who serves God
and one who does not serve Him.” – Mal. 3:18
The righteous are identified as those who fear the Lord.
“Then those who feared the LORD spoke often to one another, and the LORD listened and heard them; So a book of remembrance was written before Him for those who fear the LORD and who meditate on His name.”– Mal. 3:16 KJV
I love the 3:16’s in the Bible:
-
Luke 3:16 “John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire:
-
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
-
Acts 3:16 “And his name through faith in his name hath made this man strong, whom ye see and know: yea, the faith which is by him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.
-
1 Cor. 3:16 “Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?”
-
Col. 3:16 “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.”
-
2 Thes. 3:16 “Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always by all means. The Lord be with you all.”
-
1 Tim. 3:16 “And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.”
-
2 Tim. 3:16 “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:”
(An entire sermon could be preached about each one of these verses as they contain in a nutshell the Word of God.)
Well, back to Malachi’s teaching – Notice that those who feared the Lord “spoke often to one another”, in other words they were in fellowship with one another. Paul (I believe Paul wrote Hebrews) writes about this in Hebrews.
“And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.” – Heb. 10:24-25
A few hours one day a week doesn’t qualify for this category of righteousness! Anyone with eyes to see, can see that the end is drawing near so, that means we should be meeting more. We should be encouraging one another to love and do good works (works that God commands). And above all, we should be serving God! That doesn’t always mean a church meeting but can also mean individual members getting together and talking about the Lord.
Now who qualifies as the ‘wicked’? Well, Malachi lists a few things:
- “And now, O priests, this commandment is for you.” (Remember, in the New Testament, we are called kings and priests (1 Pet. 2:9, Rev. 1:6) so, this command is for us as well.) “If you will not hear, and if you will not take it to heart, to give glory to My name,” Says the LORD of hosts, “I will send a curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings.” Malachi gives Levi as an example of what we should be like – “So he feared Me and was reverent before My name. The law of truth was in his mouth, and injustice was not found on his lips. He walked with Me in peace and equity, and turned many away from iniquity. This classifies most of the media, education, and most politicians as wicked!
- “For the LORD God of Israel says that He hates divorce, for it covers one’s garment with violence,
Says the LORD of hosts. “Therefore take heed to your spirit, That you do not deal treacherously.” God is involved in your marriage covenant. He made them one having a remnant of the Spirit (made and sustained for us the spirit of life RSV), and why? That He might have godly offspring. Family is precious to God and we have been adopted into the family of God. God is even going to send the prophet Elijah before the great and terrible Day of the Lord to restore the families! So much is lost in a divorce, Nobody wins but the devil! It is not an unforgivable sin but without repentance it has serious consequences – “So He (God) does not regard the offering anymore, Nor receive it with goodwill from your hands.” - “Will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed Me! But you say, ‘In what way have we robbed You?’ In tithes and offerings.” If we will do this, God promises a blessing, if not, we are classified as wicked.
- You have said, ‘It is useless to serve God; What profit is it that we have kept His ordinance,” That attitude caused them to call the proud blessed and those who do wickedness are raised up. In other words they called good evil and evil good!
It sounds a lot like the attitude prevalent in politics today and even in the Church, as we ordain homosexuals, women pastors blessing abortions, and women pastors calling pornography OK.
But, Malachi ends with a message for the righteous – “remember the Law of Moses, the servant of God”. In other words remember the Ten Commandments. God is going to send the prophet Elijah and his message is to restore the families, turning the hearts of the fathers to the children and the hearts of the children to the fathers. In other words, God is going to cancel the CRT and the communist teachings being propagated in the schools and put the education of the children back in the hands of the parents!
Our Bill of Rights and our Constitution are all based on The Ten Commandments and that is why the present globalists want to abolish its memory. Malachi is saying we must not let that happen. Don’t let any so-called government take away God’s commandments or take away our rights as parents. Our freedoms are not based in government but in Jesus Christ –
“For freedom Christ has set us free; stand fast therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.” – Gal. 5:1
Malachi has a lot to say to our generation. I pray we will listen!
Excellent teaching. Love the juxtaposition of the 3:16’s….wonderful words to meditate upon. Our prayer must be that not only God sustain each of us who confess Him but that He wake the lukewarm, indeed the cold-hearted to Him, the Word made flesh, the soon and coming King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Lord by Your spirit raise up brave and bold men who lead their households and create a desire in women to nurture and support with respect for their God given roles. In these things are much favor from the Lord. May men be masculine and women feminine as God created us. Thank you Chuck.
