I’m going to write this blog to black families in America. I choose black families because of the recent riots in Baltimore but, this message could and does apply to families of every ethnic background. Riots like we have seen in Baltimore are not the result of poverty, lack of education, or even lack of opportunity to succeed. There are many black people who have overcome these to become successful. These riots are the result of family breakdown! The fathers have forsaken their obligations to be the head of the family – in fact they are more often than not AWOL! Leaving the mother to raise her children and the children to be raised by whoever happens to be available. To the fathers, God commands –

And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord. – Ephesians 6:4

What we all witnessed in Baltimore was ‘children of wrath’ running wild. But their fathers and mothers were doing it first – having sex out of wedlock or without the commitment to stick it out and raise the children they produced!
