Jesus said there would be wars and rumors of war but, that these would just be the beginning of the birth pangs that would mark the end of the age.
“And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. … “All these are the beginning of sorrows (lit. birth pangs).” – Matthew 24:6-8
The daily news is filled with acts of terrorism, acts of war, and threats of war in the Middle east. Many wise men and politicians offer their plans for a solution but those I’ve heard fail to take into account what God has said about the situation. Nations today spend much time and effort developing their foreign policies to deal with such situations but few consider that God may also have a divine ‘foreign policy’.

In last years post named Revisiting Gog of Ezekiel I stated –
“Russia’s current move into Crimea, Yugoslavia, and other Baltic states could signal the setting for Ezekiel’s prophesy beginning. Russia’s threatening Denmark with nuclear retaliation, Iran’s threatening to wipe Israel off the map, ISIS’ threats against Jordan and Saudi Arabia are all setting the scene for Israel making a preemptive strike on Lebanon, Syria, and/or Iran. Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt may even support such an Israeli attack.”

As we prepare to remember Passover, I am reminded that it also contained two other equally important feasts; Unleavened Bread and First Fruits. In fact Passover began a countdown of sorts to the first of God’s supernatural harvests. The Feast of Unleavened Bread began the next day after Passover and the Feast of First Fruits began on the next Sunday, which was usually 3-7 days later depending on the year. First Fruits marked the first of the annual harvests and a sheaf of barley was waved before the LORD in thanksgiving for the coming harvest. Prophetically, Jesus was raised from the dead on this exact feast day and represents the first fruit of the harvest of souls to come. Fifty days later the second of the annual harvest days occurred – Pentecost. This harvest marked the bringing in of the wheat harvest. As I wrote in Psalm 83 – part 1, a restored Israel could be a great blessing to the surrounding Arab nations. They have already been a blessing to Jordanians by teaching them new methods of farming and water management. But, Islamic pride and radicalism has all but erased the ground gained. Radical Islam’s message of “Come, let us cut them off from being a nation, that the name of Israel may be remembered no more” has blinded them to the possible blessings a restored Israel could be.
The true nature of Islam rules the Muslim population with the thought that “land that was once ruled by Islam can never be surrendered” so, even so-called moderate Muslims cannot and will not oppose those Continue reading
In Gog Rising parts 1-4, I identified most of the nations led by Russia against Israel in the war of Gog and Magog: Russia, Turkey, Iran, Libya, Sudan, and others. –
“You will ascend, coming like a storm, covering the land like a cloud, you and all your troops and many peoples with you.” – Ezekiel 38:9
There may be other nations and people that join with Russia in this attack that are not specifically named, but their purpose will be the same, to destroy Israel. While they may not like or trust each other, their hatred of Israel will join them together for this war. Continue reading
After many years, Gog is told to gather his forces together and take command of them. While many today have forgotten Russia began to do this as early as 1982. In 1982, Israel made a preemptive strike into Lebanon uncovering stockpiles of weapons and documents which proved Russia was ready to attack later that year. This is documented in the book Magog 1982 – Canceled by David Allen Lewis.
Once again, we see Russia building ties with Iran, Syria, Libya and other radical Islamic states. Putin announced that “Russia is determined to enhance cooperation with the Islamic world.” Silly American diplomats have handcuffed themselves by joining with the so-called Quartet (Russia, EU, UN, and U.S.) to try and solve the Mideast problems when Mideast turmoil is to the advantage of at least half of the Quartet!
But, as usual the nations of the world fail to take into account God’s feelings on the issue. God says “I will turn you around and put hooks in your jaws and bring you out with your whole army.” Two things are clear: 1) God is in charge of the situation, and 2) something will happen to force Russia’s hand. In this third edition of Gog Rising, I want to deal with the issue, Why would Russia attack Israel? Ezekiel gives the answer:
“to take plunder and to take booty, to stretch out your hand against the waste places that are again inhabited, and against a people gathered from the nations, who have acquired livestock and goods, who dwell in the midst of the land.” – Ezekiel 38:12
I want to address Ezekiel’s list in the opposite order he listed them:
1) Who dwell in the midst of the land. Historically, Israel occupies the ‘land bridge’ between Africa and the Mid East. They also control water access to the Mediterranean Sea, the Arabian Sea, the Suez Canal, the Persian Gulf, and the Red Sea. As far as travel between Asia and Africa, they are truly in the “midst of the land”. Continue reading
