Our True Foundation

Our nation was not founded to be a Christian nation but, it was founded upon Christian principles. Our founding fathers were all believers in God and for the most part in the Bible as His word to mankind. Here are quotes from the first three of our Presidents –

“While we are zealously performing the duties of good citizens and soldiers, we certainly ought not to be inattentive to the higher duties of religion. To the distinguished character of Patriot, it should be our highest glory to add the more distinguished character of Christian.”

“Now I will avow, that I then believe, and now believe, that those general Principles of Christianity, are as eternal and immutable, as the Existence and Attributes of God; and that those Principles of Liberty, are as unalterable as human Nature and our terrestrial, mundane System.”
–John Adams wrote this on June 28, 1813, excerpt from a letter to Thomas Jefferson

“God who gave us life gave us liberty. And can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are of the Gift of God? That they are not to be violated but with His wrath? Indeed, I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just; that His justice cannot sleep forever…”

The Attack on Christmas

 

My heart is weeping for a nation founded on Biblical principles that has fallen into a net of apostasy, rebellion, and sin. As the Pilgrim William Bradford declared, “We shall be as a city founded upon a hill” that reflects the glory of Almighty God. How shocked he would be today to see the corruption and rebellion rampant in society today. We have become as Isaiah prophesied –

“Alas, sinful nation, A people laden with iniquity, A brood of evildoers, Children who are corrupters! They have forsaken the LORD, They have provoked to anger The Holy One of Israel, They have turned away backward.” – Isa. 1:4

What Language do you Speak?

In the United States, we are just a few days from the Presidential election and the voice of confusion (the Bible would call it Babel) is echoing through the land. What is called the news media is really just a propaganda machine for Hillary Clinton and leaves a distaste in any thinking person’s mouth. But, there is also the Social media crowd which is pumping

founding-fathersout volumes of posts and tweaks for one side or the other – choosing which are true or false is a coin toss. Meanwhile our elected officials are passing laws which are feathering their own nests all in the name of the people but, the People’s Constitution is burning because of a simple truth – a government is never any better than the people it governs. Our founding Fathers knew this country’s blessings depended upon our obedience to God’s principles.

Time to Remember

Our Foundations Under Attack

“An appeal to arms and the God of hosts is all that is left us. But we shall not fight our battle alone. There is a just God that presides over the destinies of nations. The battle sir, is not of the strong alone. Is life so dear or peace so sweet as to be purchased at the price of  pplchains and slavery? Forbid it almighty God. I know not what course others may take, but as for me, give me liberty, or give me death.”

This quote was from Patrick Henry spoken in 1775. The following year he also wrote –

‘It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation was founded not by religionists, but by Christians; not on religion, but on the Gospel of Jesus Christ. For that reason alone, people of other faiths have been afforded freedom of worship here.’ Continue reading
