Isaiah brings an accusation against the people of his day that could be spoken against the rulers of today –

As we have just finished celebrating Christmas I wonder how many realize what it was that we were celebrating. To some it was just a holiday from work. to some it was a chance to make money, to some it was a time to get and give gifts, and to some it was an excuse to party and drink. To some it was a time of fellowship with family and renewing old ties. To a few it was a recognition of God’s gift of salvation to mankind. But, I wonder how many saw the prophetic promise of Christmas?
God revealed it to His prophet Isaiah –
“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end,” – Isa. 9:6
The Obama team seems to forget that they lost the election in 2016 and they are still trying to sabotage the Trump Administration from news leaks by Obama holdovers in the FBI and Department of Justice to the undermining of international diplomacy by John Kerry. Their delaying tactics in the confirmation of Judge Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court are obvious and distasteful to fair minded people. Does God judge?
Many times people do not recognize judgments when they come. Sometimes they are the result of our own lawlessness, such as when governments or school systems push God out of their world views and then as a result face increased lawlessness and rebellion. Or when we kill nearly 60 million of our potential children by abortion and then worry about the increase of a spirit of murder among us. On the part of schools, if you eliminate God’s 10 commandments from the curricula and replace them with atheistic humanism, what or who is to be the arbiter of right vs. wrong? Remember the story of Lot in Sodom? God was about to judge Sodom because of their wickedness, which went much further than just sodomy. But, as Abraham interceded with God, it was determined that if God could find even 10 righteous people there, He would not judge it. Now most know the result of those negotiations but, I want to draw your attention to another aspect of the story and that is the value of righteous people. In my article Zechariah Speaks Yet Today I wrote the following warning –
“We are in captivity as much as they were; captivity to sexual immorality, to greed, to demonically inspired lifestyles, to destructive world views such as socialism, communism, and humanism, and to selfish rebellion which looks to government to solve their problems rather than to God, who alone can solve them!. Our educational communities are not teaching truth but are teaching doctrines designed to bring us down as a nation and a people. I know, I was a teacher for over 30 years in both High School and college and witnessed the corruption of liberalism first hand.
We are standing on a precipice, if we do not turn to the Lord – destruction, but, if we turn back to the Lord – healing, deliverance, and blessing. As the Lord spoke to Zechariah so, He is speaking to us –
“But my words and my statutes, which I commanded my servants the prophets, they did not take hold of your fathers? [Your fathers wouldn’t listen.] and they returned and said, Like as the LORD of hosts thought to do to us, according to our ways, and according to our doings, so hath he dealt with us” – (Zec 1:6)”
The Prophets wept for Israel
“Woe is me!
For I am like those who gather summer fruits,
Like those who glean vintage grapes; There is no cluster to eat of the first-ripe fruit which my soul desires. The faithful man has perished from the earth, and there is no one upright among men. They all lie in wait for blood; Every man hunts his brother with a net. That they may successfully do evil with both hands— The prince asks for gifts, the judge seeks a bribe, and the great man utters his evil desire; So they scheme together.” – Micah 7:1-3“For My people have committed two evils: They have forsaken Me, the fountain of living waters, and hewn themselves cisterns—broken cisterns that can hold no water. ….. A voice was heard on the desolate heights, weeping and supplications of the children of Israel. For they have perverted their way; They have forgotten the LORD their God. “Return, you backsliding children, and I will heal your backslidings.
Indeed we do come to You, for You are the LORD our God. Truly, in vain is salvation hoped for from the hills, and from the multitude of mountains; Truly, in the LORD our God is the salvation of Israel.” – Jeremiah 2:13, 3:21-23
At the risk of being called too negative, I share this message. I believe the prophets Micah and Jeremiah, though they spoke hundreds of years ago to Israel, are speaking through the Holy Spirit to our generation as well. At a time of harvest, Micah laments that the Lord can find little fruit and he plainly identifies the reason; faithful men are being quieted and wickedness is being exalted. Leaders, who should do righteousness, sell their influence to those who pay the most (or for the sake of votes), judges forsake justice (which is always based on God’s will) ruling instead out of their own rebellion and corruption. There are many examples I could site but I will use just one – Canadian leader Justin Trudeau’s Liberal government forces employers to endorse abortion and LGTB agenda in order to receive governments grants or contracts. Similar actions have taken place in the England and the U.S. as well as those who stand for Biblical truth are being censored and ridiculed.
“215 million Christians experience high levels of persecution” around the world, according to Open Doors, a human rights organization. On its recently released World Watch List 2018, which ranks the world’s 50 worst nations wherein to be Christian, 3,066 Christians were killed, 1,252 abducted, and 1,020 raped or sexually harassed on account of their faith; and 793 churches were attacked or destroyed. The Islamic world had the lion’s share of this persecution; 38 of the 50 worst nations are Muslim-majority. The report further cites “Islamic oppression” behind the “extreme persecution” that prevails in eight of the 10 worst nations.
It is time for the righteous to take up their weapons and join the battle and remember what James wrote, “The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.” This does not mean that we are perfect but, that the Lord has given His righteousness to us and we follow Him.
“Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.” – 2 Tim. 4:8
“For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” – 2 Cor. 5:21
Many in the modern church like to rely on “grace alone” to excuse their ungraceful manner of living. They live like the world six days a week and then put on a ‘holy’ face for Sunday. Many of them vote Democrat or Socialist in the elections and think they won’t have to answer to God for approving abortions, homosexual lifestyles, or other anti scriptural stands. Many shy away from prophecy because they have trouble understanding it but, that is not God’s fault. God only reveals His mysteries to those who are serious about searching them out and their hidden message is usually revealed in some other scripture.

I just heard one preacher say “These are the days of Elijah” and I believe it! Elijah ministered during a time of government elitism and corruption and when social norms had departed their Biblical roots and were now pagan in their norms: worshipping false gods that brought them money, power, lust, and control. We are there!
Elijah challenged them with the true God and sometimes with laughter at their foolishness. When he challenged the prophets of Baal to a ‘cook-off’ . He told Ahab, the wicked king at that time –
“Now therefore send, and gather to me all Israel unto mount Carmel, and the prophets of Baal four hundred and fifty, and the prophets of the groves four hundred, which eat at Jezebel’s table.” – 1 Kings 18:19
Elijah then challenged Baal’s prophets to a contest –
“Let them therefore give us two bullocks; and let them choose one bullock for themselves, and cut it in pieces, and lay it on wood, and put no fire under: and I will dress the other bullock, and lay it on wood, and put no fire under: And call ye on the name of your gods, and I will call on the name of the LORD: and the God that answereth by fire, let him be God. And all the people answered and said, It is well spoken. And Elijah said unto the prophets of Baal, Choose you one bullock for yourselves, and dress it first; for ye are many; and call on the name of your gods, but put no fire under.” – 1 Kings 18:23-25
Now the prophets of Baal could not call down fire, no matter how hard they tried so, Elijah taunted them –
“Elijah mocked them, and said, Cry aloud: for he is a god; either he is talking, or he is pursuing, or he is in a journey, or peradventure he sleepeth, and must be awaked.”
They tried harder, even becoming bloody as they cut themselves – but to no avail. Then Elijah took over and called the fire of God down from heaven. He challenged the people as well, saying –
“How long halt ye between two opinions? if the LORD be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him.”
Some today are following Baal, the god of false promises. They may be trusting in government as the answer to their problems: that is like leaning on a broken stick for support, government can only give what it takes and it never gives back as much as it takes and it often lies about what it will do!
Or they may be looking to a church that is preaching prosperity and feel-good messages but it is only God that can prosper anyone and He always demands obedience to His word. King David wrote “I have never seen the righteous forsaken or his children begging bread” (Ps 37:25) but, the price is ‘righteousness”.
Or they may look to a political party to solve their problems like many did 8 years ago with Barak Hussein Obama who promised ‘hope and change’ – well the best I can say about this is to play a video that expresses what he and the Democrats gave us –
This may sound funny to you if you are a Republican but, in fairness, they are no better. They campaigned for 8 years promising to repeal ObamaCare, even voting for it when they knew Obama would veto it. But, when they had a Republican President who promised to sign it into law, suddenly they didn’t have the votes! The Republican House and Senate not only didn’t defund Planned Parenthood, they gave more money to it. They talk big during election time but disappear during legislation time. They hide their real voting record behind all the procedural votes taken on every bill so they can please their constituents no matter which side of the isle they are on.
President Trump is no different. He prides himself on being the ‘great negotiator’ but, he gave away Syria to the Russians and Iranians and reneged on his promise to move the US Embassy to Jerusalem. Now he is backtracking on building the wall! His willingness to work deals with Schumer and Pelosi highlights his ego and pride more than one who stands on principle. He seems oblivious to Islamic deception and to God’s word as he prepares to negotiate with the PA and Hamas to give them part of Israel for a country.
He will find that God does not negotiate! Those who seek to divide His land will reap bad consequences!
“I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there for my people and for my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted my land.“ – Joel 3:2
“And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it.” – Zec. 12:3
These indeed seem to be ‘Days of Elijah’ and those who love God and the truth need an answer by fire as Elijah did.
“and I will call on the name of the LORD: and the God that answereth by fire, let him be God.”
John the baptist, who came in the spirit of Elijah said of Jesus –
“John answered, saying to all, “I indeed baptize you with water; but One mightier than I is coming, whose sandal strap I am not worthy to loose. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.” – Luke 3:16
It is time for the fire of the Holy Spirit to burn away the chaff and the dross from the people of God so we may be clean wheat and silver without blemish. When the world looks at the Church, they need to see someone different than the world – someone who can heal the sick, cast out demons, and declare truth not tainted by political correctness or fear!
This is the word of the Lord – hear it.
