“The second day of July, 1776, will be the most memorable epoch in the history of America. I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary Festival. It ought to be commemorated, as the Day of Deliverance, by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires and illuminations, from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward forever.” John Adams, 2nd President of the United States
“And when he had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven about the space of half an hour.” – Revelation 8:1
As the 7th seal is opened there is silence in heaven where normally there is constant praise and worship. Why? I believe it is because God is grieving for the judgments that are about to be released on those God created. God told Ezekiel –
“Say to them: ‘As I live,’ says the Lord GOD, ‘I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live. Turn, turn from your evil ways! For why should you die, O house of Israel?'” – Ezekiel 33:11 Continue reading
“And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held: And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth? And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellow servants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.” – Revelation 6:9-11
During the first four seals many true believers have suffered for their faith in God and Jesus. In the fifth seal we understand that God has not forgotten or overlooked them or their suffering. They are under His Altar, close to His heart. Their blood will be avenged, just as the blood of righteous Abel cried our from the earth to God, their blood and prayers will result in the rescuing of many from the ravages of hell and to Continue reading
In the United States, we are just a few days from the Presidential election and the voice of confusion (the Bible would call it Babel) is echoing through the land. What is called the news media is really just a propaganda machine for Hillary Clinton and leaves a distaste in any thinking person’s mouth. But, there is also the Social media crowd which is pumping
out volumes of posts and tweaks for one side or the other – choosing which are true or false is a coin toss. Meanwhile our elected officials are passing laws which are feathering their own nests all in the name of the people but, the People’s Constitution is burning because of a simple truth – a government is never any better than the people it governs. Our founding Fathers knew this country’s blessings depended upon our obedience to God’s principles.
“The propitious smiles of Heaven can never be expected on a nation that disregards the eternal rules of order and right, which Heaven itself has ordained.”
“The earth shall reel to and fro like a drunkard, And shall totter like a hut;
Its transgression shall be heavy upon it, And it will fall, and not rise again.” – Isaiah 24:20
“Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! “ – Isaiah 5:20
“Justice is turned back, And righteousness stands afar off; For truth is fallen in the street,
And equity cannot enter.” – Isaiah 59:14
Judgment is falling on the earth, in nearly every kingdom and nation, and it is not the judgment of God – it is the judgment of their own sin bearing its fruit. The people are wandering around like blind men seeking an answer to their problems but, they will not find it because they are looking in the wrong place for it. As Isaiah wrote, their transgression makes them wobble like a drunkard having no stability. They call evil good and good evil. It used to be evil to kill the unborn, now it is called good. It used to be called evil to lie, now it is called shrewd. It used to be called evil to steal, now it is called taxation, repatriation, or wealth re-distribution. Truth has fallen in the streets and anyone who stands up for truth makes himself a prey!
In America they have invented a new term called ‘social justice’ which allows them to extort the innocent. Social justice is just a banner used by some to incite people to violence and by others to give vent to their own rebellion. Some try to sugar coat it by claiming that Jesus preached ‘social justice’ thereby exposing their ignorance of what Jesus taught and stood for. Jesus began His ministry with a message – “Repent for the kingdom of God is at hand!” There was and is no justice without repentance and forsaking sin. He taught us to pray – “Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven”. As Isaiah wrote, when “righteousness stands afar off’ then ‘justice is turned back”. All the marching, breaking windows, looting stores, and burning cars in the street will not bring justice. Only repentance from sinful lives and humbly calling on God for forgiveness will do that.
In the article How to overcome strange fire, I warned of the danger of mixing falsehoods with God’s revealed works or words. One of the signs Jesus warned us to watch for were false prophets (Matthew 24:11), and today we see an abundance of false prophets and false teachers on the scene. They often try to deceive by adding a fragment of God’s truth to their proclamations. Or, having forsaken God all together, they use humanistic reasons, evolutionary falsehoods, or political correctness to prove their points.
I give you another paradigm to answer the world’s problems –
- Seek God while He may be found – “Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.”– Isaiah 55:6, 7
- As you face life’s problems remember – “You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.” – 1 John 4:4
- Don’t yield to the world or be bullied by it for in the end – we win! – “And you will be hated by all for My name’s sake. But he who endures to the end shall be saved.” – Mark 13:13
- Trust God to meet all your needs – “I have been young, and now am old; Yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, Nor his descendants begging bread.” – Psalm 37:25
Woe to us! Another political election is nearing! As if we do not hear enough lies and disinformation from the news media already, now it is amplified by all the political maneuvering of Democrats and Republicans as they try to tell the most believable lies to the people to get their votes – lies which history proves they have no intention of keeping!
For example, immigration is portrayed as caring for poor Hispanic immigrants just looking for work when the closer truth is they are looking for a government handout. For every one worker there are a dozen welfare leaches (free medical care, free schooling, free social security benefits, etc.). The truth for the Democrats is they represent potential voters and the Continue reading
2015 is soon upon us and the last of 4 blood red moons will begin. They are heavenly signs given to get our attention. Since the Bible declares judgment begins first at the house of God, I want to raise this alarm.
I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. – Revelation 3:15
In the Book of Revelation Jesus dictates letters to 7 churches. In each of the letters He declares, “I know your works.” Much of the modern day church seems to have forgotten this fact! By all accounts there is little difference between church members and the world. One fast growing church in the area I live prides itself on its growth and number of services each Sunday. But the Pastor tells new staff “I hope I don’t shock you if I swear once in a while.” Or at church men’s retreats, he tells the men they can bring their cigars and beer. I guess they really are retreats – retreats right into the world! At another fast growing church in our area worship leaders and staff are let go if they don’t project the right look of ‘charisma’. They are a TV generation and the right outward look is everything.
