The Great Red Dragon Chained

Revelation chapter 20 is a continuation of chapter 19. After the battle of Armageddon is concluded and the beast and the false prophet are thrown into the lake of fire and brimstone, the devil is chained and thrown into the bottomless pit for 1000 years.

“And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.” – Rev. 20:1-3

God’s Overview of the End

144000-4-638Revelation chapter 14 begins with the sealing of 144,000 servants of God who were virgins

“These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb.” – Rev. 14:4

Who are these? And what does it mean that they were virgins? Strong’s Concordance identifies them – “a man who has abstained from all uncleanness and whoredom attendant on idolatry, and so has kept his chastity” In other words, they are sold out to God and not distracted by any lusts of the flesh. I don’t believe it means they were effeminate or unmarried. They are like Peter, who was married, but wholly committed to follow Jesus. They follow the Lamb wherever He goes.
