Our True Foundation

Our nation was not founded to be a Christian nation but, it was founded upon Christian principles. Our founding fathers were all believers in God and for the most part in the Bible as His word to mankind. Here are quotes from the first three of our Presidents –

“While we are zealously performing the duties of good citizens and soldiers, we certainly ought not to be inattentive to the higher duties of religion. To the distinguished character of Patriot, it should be our highest glory to add the more distinguished character of Christian.”
The Writings of Washington, pp. 342-343.

“Now I will avow, that I then believe, and now believe, that those general Principles of Christianity, are as eternal and immutable, as the Existence and Attributes of God; and that those Principles of Liberty, are as unalterable as human Nature and our terrestrial, mundane System.”
–John Adams wrote this on June 28, 1813, excerpt from a letter to Thomas Jefferson

“God who gave us life gave us liberty. And can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are of the Gift of God? That they are not to be violated but with His wrath? Indeed, I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just; that His justice cannot sleep forever…”
Notes on the State of Virginia, Query XVIII, p. 237.

“I am a real Christian – that is to say, a disciple of the doctrines of Jesus Christ.”
The Writings of Thomas Jefferson, p. 385

The Attacks are Fierce

democrat basePaul wrote about conditions in our day, the last days, and called them ‘perilous’.

“This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, truce-breakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, high-minded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. – 1 Tim. 3:1-5 Continue reading

Psalm 83 – Is It about to Happen?

26 signs headerIn 2014 I wrote a 4 part series of articles titled 26 Signs on the Lord’s Soon Return. It isn’t that these signs have not happened throughout history but, that they all are happening together right now, and in ever increasing frequency. This is the warning Jesus gave, that they would be like birth pangs getting closer together and more intense until the time of the delivery.

“All these are the beginning of sorrows (lit. birth pangs)” – Matt. 24:8

If you haven’t read this series, I urge you to do so. But, there is another topic I want to concentrate on in this article – it is Psalm 83. This psalm was written by Asaph who besides being King David’s worship leader was also a prophet. Many believe Psalm 83 is a prophecy of a war that has not yet happened and I have written about it before. But, whether that is true or not, Psalm 83 certainly describes events happening right now and it may well lead into the war of Ezekiel 38, 39 . Continue reading

Where is the Church?

Why is the American church seemingly so powerless against the atheistic worldview sweeping the land? The Bible declares that light overcomes darkness and “Righteousness exalts a nation, But sin is a reproach to any people.” (Prov. 14:34). So why isn’t the church overcoming the darkness? Perhaps it isn’t the church at all? Jesus said –

oil lamp“You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. “Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. “Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled. Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I say to you, that unless your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.” – Matt. 5:14-20 Continue reading

Choices

The United States is facing serious questions right now and they are not just about who will be President. One major choice is that of Elijah’s challenge –

“And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the LORD be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word.” – 1 Kings 18:21

web pictures 032By choosing against prayer to God in schools; or against posting the 10 Commandments in public; or upholding God’s definition of marriage as being between a man and a woman; or by choosing to allow the murder of babies in the womb; or by choosing to dissolve the covenant of marriage in divorce; or by choosing world views that deny God, such as humanism- we are choosing to follow the Baals of our day.

To Vote – or Not to Vote?

founding-fathers-quote

As you vote – think of this!

I have been asked “Who do I vote for?” and my answer is – “Vote for whom God tells you to.” But, it is imperative that you do vote! I know that from a Christian perspective neither candidate’s personal life is very appealing but, I want you to know that these candidates also represent political parties and Platforms as well as their own agendas.

Let me remind you what the main parties stand for –

dem-rep-contrast

I also remind you that current liberal Justices have consistently backed policies that are anti-Christian and anti-Constitution and that a Democrat Administration will likely appoint like-minded Justices. Franklin Graham who has been leading a nation-wide 40 day prayer recently also urged Christians to vote. To see what he had to say click the link below –

Then there is the issue of ‘national security’. I know political pundits all mimic the mantra “It’s the economy dummy!” but, I remind you if the country falls to terrorism or outside hostile forces – the “economy” won’t matter that much! Democrats have not a good foxes-in-the-henhouserecord on national security and the present Democrat Administration has made ‘back-door’ deals with avowed enemy states that support terrorism such as Iran. They have even welcomed known terrorist supporters into the Administration and other government intelligence groups. One terrorist group, the Muslim Brotherhood, has been welcomed by Obama and Hillary Clinton into sensitive positions. CBN’s Stakelback reported in the following link –

Also, it is possible that if you vote for one of the third party candidates you will just weaken the Republican or Democrat candidate that did have a chance to win.

However, if you believe neither main-line Party is worth electing because they seldom actually do what they promise, maybe it is time to take a stand and vote for someone you respect, that has Godly principles, and be willing to build for the future because you likely will not win this time around.

No one can tell who to vote for but remember, you will answer to God for your choice and your answer will be judged by His standards – not the Democrat’s or the Republican’s.

Defeating Islamic Terrorism

Islamic terrorism is not ‘contained’ , it is spreading and intensifying. Recent events are verifying the truth of this, so why do Americans have such a hard time understanding this? I want to suggest a radical answer – we in the West have forsaken the God of the Bible! As the prophet Jeremiah wrote about Israel, we too have “forsaken God the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.
