Truth is a precious commodity and much of our lives depend upon it; justice, righteousness, and equity to name a few. Jesus even taught that our very freedom depended upon it.
“Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” – John 8:31,32
He also prayed for His disciples –
“Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.” – John 17:17
The word ‘sanctify’ means ‘to set apart‘. That means they would be different than other people. That is why our Founding Fathers, who were believers in the Bible, set such a high priority on free speech, making it the first Amendment to the Constitution. It’s one of the things that sets our country apart from most others in the world , certainly socialistic and communistic countries. It is why we have such a free Press.
