“Unless the LORD builds the house, They labor in vain who build it; Unless the LORD guards the city, The watchman stays awake in vain. … Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, The fruit of the womb is a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, So are the children of one’s youth. Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them; They shall not be ashamed, But shall speak with their enemies in the gate.” – Psalm 127

As families gather for Thanksgiving this year be especially thankful for the children. They are your heritage from the Lord. Properly trained and cared for they will be your defense against all the warfare of the devil in these times. Even if the Lord has not seen fit to give you children at this time, yet you can rejoice in them, enjoy them, and by your prayers stand for their godly training.

Many in this wicked world have not learned this lesson and they are abusing the most innocent among us but, they will not go unpunished, both in this life and in the life to come. Some, like the Palestinians, train their children as weapons of war against God, thus robbing them of the promise God had for them from the beginning. They are not only harming the children but, they are robbing themselves of the blessings God intended through their children.

But, they are not alone. Hollywood smut mongers are just as guilty as they sell pornography all over the world and portray marriage as a convenience not to hinder other sexual encounters. Why then are we surprised at men of power abusing the women they come in contact with. The news media, by in large, is just as guilty as they poke fun and disdain at godly men who follow strict standards in their conduct, such as they did with Vice President Pense. Then they act shocked when the ‘chickens come home to roost’!

God has given His followers several weapons to avoid these pitfalls and snares of the devil. (1) We should first of all be in close contact with the Holy Spirit, daily. and (2)  like Joseph of old when accosted by Potiphar’s wife, we should flee contact with her! Using that formula, we should stop funding Hollywood by stop going to their movies, probably seriously cut back on TV as well. Why give time and money to that which is trying to destroy you? I also believe we should stop giving time to news programs and channels that are just propaganda for the world. There are much better news sources online any way. The #1 method is what Paul advises us to do.

“Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice! Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.” – Phil. 4:4-8
