My heart is weeping for a nation founded on Biblical principles that has fallen into a net of apostasy, rebellion, and sin. As the Pilgrim William Bradford declared, “We shall be as a city founded upon a hill” that reflects the glory of Almighty God. How shocked he would be today to see the corruption and rebellion rampant in society today. We have become as Isaiah prophesied –

“Alas, sinful nation, A people laden with iniquity, A brood of evildoers, Children who are corrupters! They have forsaken the LORD, They have provoked to anger The Holy One of Israel, They have turned away backward.” – Isa. 1:4

Christian Nativity scenes are regularly removed from public view, Christian witness is shut down in public schools and government venues. The message of Jesus is repudiated by the media as well as government offices that are supposed to support the First Amendment of Free Speech. Christian broadcaster Brannon Howse on the set of his Worldview Weekend radio and Internet podcast show asks the following question – “Have U.S. Christians already lost the right to publicly speak against Islam?” He writes –

“Christian radio host Brannon Howse had scheduled a five-city Worldview Weekend speaking tour. Howse had enlisted speakers including former Muslim-turned Christian Pastor Shahram Hadian and Bible-prophecy teacher Jimmy DeYoung, and booked venues months in advance, only to see those reservations canceled at the last minute.

Managers of the city-owned Omni Center in Onalaska, Wisconsin, told Howse they received 57 phone calls when they opened their office on Friday, April 6, from activists threatening to protest his event. They told Howse he needed to up his liability insurance policy, which already provided $1 million in coverage. They canceled his event four hours before the doors were due to open.”

He goes on to explain the union between George Soros leftist groups, liberal minded Churches, and Islamic groups like CAIR to shut down any Christian voices they deem negative to Islam.

“What’s most disturbing is CAIR’s ability to enlist liberal-minded Christians to turn on their more conservative brothers and sisters for violating CAIR’s rules against speaking negatively about Islam.”

These so-called liberal Christians stand for abortion on demand, illegal immigration, and accuse anyone who dares to tell the truth about the violence espoused by radical Islam of just being ‘Islamophobic’. But, they do not stand for the truth contained in the Bible or that Jesus is the only way into heaven. They look upon the work of the Holy Spirit in the lives of Christians today, especially the baptism of the Holy Spirit, as myth and  superstition.

Young people are marching in the streets demanding socialism and rejecting the idea of Biblical based republicanism espoused by our Founding Fathers. After all, that is what they have been taught by leftist professors in college. The news media regularly touts Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez while giving President Trump and other conservatives negative press.

Our schools have failed to teach the principles our Founding Fathers believed when founding this country. President Thomas Jefferson was the President of the first Washington D.C. School Board which adopted the Bible as its primary reader. For almost two centuries the Bible was welcomed and used as a primary reader in public schools. The first Congress of the United States authorized the printing of hundreds of Bibles to be distributed to the citizens of the country. Noah Webster, author of Webster’s Dictionary, warned against putting people in office that did not believe in the Bible.

As whole state governments vote themselves to be ‘sanctuary states’ and refuse to obey the federal laws on immigration, it is clear to see the result of citizens who have forsaken their Christian beliefs.

The nation’s morals are corrupted as movies and TV glamorize fornication, adultery, and divorce and the taking of human life and the people seem to enjoy it. Even Disney has descended to the level of homosexual and lesbian debauchery. One has to search to find a movie rated ‘G’ anymore. Our country has become as Isaiah lamented –

“Unless the LORD of hosts Had left to us a very small remnant, We would have become like Sodom, We would have been made like Gomorrah.” – Isa. 1:9

As we remember Christmas and what it means, my prayer is that there is a remnant left in this country who yet believe the Word of God and seek Jesus, the Christ, to send repentance and revival to this country. Remember the message Isaiah finished his first chapter with –

“Come now, and let us reason together,”
Says the LORD,
“Though your sins are like scarlet,
They shall be as white as snow;
Though they are red like crimson,
They shall be as wool. If you are willing and obedient,
You shall eat the good of the land; But if you refuse and rebel,
You shall be devoured by the sword”;
For the mouth of the LORD has spoken.” – Isa. 1:18-20
