As I look at the landscape that surrounds me, both political and religious, all I see is darkness, deep darkness. It is as Isaiah prophesied so long ago –
Arise, shine; For your light has come! And the glory of the LORD is risen upon you. For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, And deep darkness the people; But the LORD will arise over you, And His glory will be seen upon you. The Gentiles shall come to your light, And kings to the brightness of your rising.” – Isa. 60:1-3
In America, the darkness is almost suffocating, from Hollywood to the news media, to politics and to education, and even to the Church. The Democrat Party just passed a Resolution Applauding ‘Nonreligious Americans,’ Criticizing Churchgoers. The resolution – passed at the DNC’s summer meeting – was championed by the Secular Coalition of America, an organization that lobbies on behalf of atheists, agnostics and humanists in public policy. The coalition said it was the first time the party had “embraced American nonbelievers.” It passed unanimously absent one abstention. They are proud to be known as the ‘Party of Death’ because of their wholehearted support of abortion. Their candidates for the 2020 election of President stand against everything America was founded upon, pushing for complete government control of every aspect of our lives.
And there are many in the Church that go along with their ideas and even actively support them from Drag Queens teaching in church to the ordaining of a homosexual Bishop to the blessing of abortion clinics. One of the largest denominations, the Catholic Church is also having its problems with apostasy. Catholic lay leaders are speaking out –
“Pope Francis has signed a document in Abu Dhabi which contains a sentence which has explosive consequences for the Catholic faith,” said Italy’s Marco Tosatti. “Here it is: ‘The pluralism and diversity of religions, colour, gender, race and language are willed by God in His wisdom.’ The implications of a sentence of this kind are evident: if God has willed … that several religions should exist, it can be inferred that all religions are the divine will and therefore any person is free to choose the religion most suited to him or her.”
The Pope’s favored interviewer, Italian journalist Eugenio Scalfari, claims Francis denies Christ’s divinity. And a key bishop at Amazon Synod promotes women deacons as ‘first step’ to women priests.
Meanwhile, the Protestants are having their own problems. Apostate Christianity, represented by mega-church pirates Rick Warren and Brian Houston and others, are preaching that Muslims and Christians ‘serve the same God’, and since we do, we should join forces. Welcome to Chrislam 2019.
But Isaiah said that when the ‘deep darkness’ was covering the peoples something would happen – a light would shine! The Lord would arise and His glory would be seen upon us. That is also beginning to happen. The Gospel is coming into China even though the Communist government there is bulldozing churches and arresting Christians. As Bibles are confiscated they write verses on scrapes of paper and memorize them. Millions of Muslims are turning to Christ even though it means persecution for some of them. Indonesia has seen a great move of the Holy Spirit as this video shows –
The Call is going out by the Holy Spirit to all the Gentile nations – Turn to the Lord Jesus while there is yet time. We know the prince of darkness is on the rise but the Light is also beginning to shine and the darkness cannot stop it.
I repeat the message of Peter to all those who are “children of the Light” –
“But the end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers. And above all things have fervent love for one another, for “love will cover a multitude of sins.” – 1 Pet. 4:7,8
But to those who love darkness more than the Light, I give this last message in the Book of Revelation-
“And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work. “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.” Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city. But outside are dogs and sorcerers and sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and whoever loves and practices a lie.” – Rev. 22:12-15
